The InBody machine utilizes an FDA approved technology called bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to measure different elements of body composition such as lean muscle mass, body fat percentage, skeletal muscle mass, and water weight. BIA sends subtle electrical impulses throughout the body to measure various levels of resistance, which determines the different types of mass. This is a great tool to utilize when working towards a specific body re-composition goal such as increased muscle mass or decreased body fat, because it provides tangible, detailed data for you to work from with more specificity than a basic BMI or weight measurement.
